Kidzania London has closed

We were deeply saddened by the news of KidZania London’s closure. Over the years they have provided millions of children, including my own, with opportunities to be inspired, have fun, and learn.

It has been an honour to partner with Kidzania London. My books and characters have been featured their National Library for over three years. Our collaboration on events, such as the inspiring Careers Day, has been truly memorable.

“Zanks” to the wonderful team at KidZania for your warm welcome into your space. Wishing you all the best for the future.

A Spectacular Day at Zimfest 2023: Unveiling the Tirivhu Lion!

We recently had the pleasure of hosting a stall again at Zimfest 2023, and as always, it was an extraordinary experience! Being a part of this event has become an annual tradition for us, and witnessing its growth each year is truly remarkable.

Our stall at Zimfest is not just a showcase of NanisoCreate; it’s an opportunity to connect with familiar faces and forge new friendships. The atmosphere was buzzing with enthusiasm and a sense of community. We were thrilled to bring the NanisoCreate brand to an even wider audience, sharing our passion for creativity with all who attended.

This year marked a special milestone as we introduced the Tirivhu Lion for sale, and the response was overwhelming! The majestic Tirivhu Lion captivated everyone with its unique charm, making it a highlight of the event. We were delighted to see our creation become an instant favorite among attendees.

Take a glimpse into the vibrant moments of Zimfest 2023 through the images below, and be sure to mark your calendars for next year – you won’t want to miss the chance to join us for another unforgettable Zimfest experience!

The 2023 Zimbabwe Achiever’s Awards

We’re very happy to announce that, at a glittering event in Central London on the 22nd of April 2023, our co-founder and Creative Director, Portia Mushambi, won the Zimbabwe Achiever’s Award for Cultural Development/Promotion!

The Zimbabwe Achiever’s Awards, or ZimAchievers, is an organisation that recognises, rewards and celebrates the successes and achievements of Zimbabweans living abroad, in industries or sectors that include business, art, sport, entertainment and music. It was founded in London in 2010 by Conrad Mwanza. Since then it has gone from strength to strength, with ZAA events being held in the USA, South Africa and Australia. Over the years, many Zimbabweans of note have won the awards, across many areas of business, culture, community and media.

Portia was honoured to receive the award in front of her family and friends, and for her work to be recognised at this prestigious event. Portia is the author of the children’s books The Mysterious Melody, The Secret In The Stone and Tarirai’s Choice.

See some images from the evening below.

2023 Zimbabwe Achievers Awards Nomination!

We’re proud to announce that our co-founder and Creative Director, Portia Mushambi, has been nominated for 2 Zimbabwe Achievers Awards! She is very humbled and grateful to be acknowledged in this way, alongside the other distinguished and talented nominees.

You can vote for Portia and for the other nominees here. The winners of the various awards will be announced at a star-studded awards in central London on the 22nd of April – we’ll be there, contact us via the website or via social media to let us know if you’ll be there as well!

Order the Tirivhu Lion now!

We’re proud to announce that you can now order the Tirivhu Lion, our first toy, from our shop! Click here!

Parents and children who read Tarirai’s Choice have told us that they love the bright colours and wonderful designs of the Tirivhu Big Safari Five.  So the team at NanisoCreate thought – why not bring those designs to life in another way?

So we did, and this lovely plush toy is the result! Now your little one can read about Tirivhu Lion and his friends, and play with him too!

Order the Tirivhu Lion now! What name will you give me.

World Book Day 2022!

The 3rd of March was World Book Day 2022. All over the UK, kids (and in some cases teachers and parents!) went to school dressed up as their favourite characters from the books that they love to read. We had a lovely surprise when our friend Ronica from Ndawana and Friends shared these pictures of Mati with us. He got dressed up as his favourite character from The Mysterious Melody – Shinga!

Ronica is also a great children’s author, with a passion for teaching kids the vernacular languages of Zimbabwe. Please visit her on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook and follow her to give her some support!

Kidzania London Career’s Fair

Last week I had the opportunity to talk to kids and their parents about being a children’s author, when I attended the Kidzania London Career’s Fair as an exhibitor. As well as hosting a stall during the day, I also had the opportunity to give a presentation at the Kidzania London auditorium. My friends Otto and The Mutapa Calling joined me and added a bit of flavour to the proceedings. Check out the festivities below!

Zimfest 2021!

Zimfest 2021 was back on the 31st of July, after the COVID-enforced postponement last year, and we had a stall there. It was great to be back meeting old and new friends, and of course to have the opportunity to sell SP K-Mushambi’s books. Come back soon to see more images from the day, or go to our social media to see some now!

We made an extra special effort to produce some new goodies for sale at Zimfest 2021, including a colouring book, an activity book and some wonderful Safari Big Five posters! But if you weren’t able to make it, you didn’t miss out – check them out in the Shop!
